Dress-up Feature Open Beta Now Live!

Thank you for using VRoid.

We are excited to announce the launch of the open beta for a new feature under development in VRoid Studio, designed to easily dress avatars made from scratch, such as those intended for VRChat, with 3D costumes.

After running a closed beta since December last year, we are now opening the beta to everyone. You can access it for free on both Windows and macOS through Steam’s beta features.

We hope you’ll take this opportunity to try this new feature in VRoid Studio.

■ Dress up your favorite models made from scratch

On BOOTH, pixiv’s comprehensive creative marketplace, you can find a wide range of 3D items for VRoid Studio and outfits intended for VRChat.

However, until now, VRoid Studio could not be used to dress up models other than those in .vroid file format.

With the new VRoid Studio features available in the open beta, you can convert made-from-scratch costume data into a proprietary format, enabling outfit changes on made-from-scratch models.

Additionally, the feature includes export options that allow you to use your created models on external platforms like VRChat or to export them as VRM files.

Feature details:

1. Convert model data through Unity editor extensions

You can convert avatar data and costume data intended for VRChat into a proprietary format for use in VRoid Studio.

2. Import proprietary format data and VRM files

You can load data in a proprietary format (XAvatar) or VRM files into VRoid Studio.
You can also add and edit costume and accessory data (XWear) for these avatars or VRM files.

3. Fitting features

You can comfortably fit costumes to models with different body shapes.

  • An Auto-fitting feature that fits costumes to the model’s body shape with one click

  • Move, scale, and rotate by bone

  • Temporarily hide parts of the base mesh

  • Play animations directly from the editing screen

4. Export for VRChat and as VRM files

You can export the dressed-up models either as data for VRChat or as VRM files.
